Happy Friday and welcome back!
As we wrap up this series, I want to provide encouragement for those of you who are waiting on the Lord for direction. The waiting place can be a very difficult one, but take heart. Every person enters in and out of waiting. I wrote a whole series last November on waiting. At that time, I was in my own season of waiting. Lamentations 3:25 assures us that, “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.” Waiting on God’s answer to a direction you seek in your life might be difficult, but we can trust He is right there with us in the wait, and I’d bet if you look around, there are others close by to lean on. We aren’t meant to do life alone.
Years ago, my pastor created an acronym with the word GOSPEL that serves to test our thoughts and determine if what we are setting out to do is going in the direction of bringing God glory. Here it is:
Last thought, a commentary I read made a wonderful parallel between God as our parent and us as His children, suggesting that just as a child would know without asking what their parents wants them to say or do in any given situation, when we are walking closely with the Lord, often times we know what our Heavenly Father desires our response or choice to be.
The takeaway for me throughout this series has been the importance of being in His word daily, learning and studying His Word and His ways, and drawing closer in relationship to Him through meditation on Scripture and time in prayer. We have this promise in James 4:8, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” Jesus speaks to the importance of abiding in Him in John 15.
We all have a choice to make each day—will we choose to be obedient to His voice or choose to walk in our own way?
When we are in step with the Spirit and abiding in His word, discovering His will might come a little easier.
What is your takeaway from the series?
