Happy Friday and welcome back!

Today, we’re continuing our series titled, “What is God’s will for me?” If you missed the introduction, scroll back to the first post of the series to catch up.

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2

A few takeaways:

-For the child of God, this verse provides a sequence. First, we should not conform to the world and its pattern. This is really important. As a believer, we should look different from a non-believer. Our life should be different, our priorities, how we speak, the choices we make, how we spend our money.

-Secondly, after a child of God refuses to conform to the pattern of the world and instead, chooses to allow Scripture to renew their mind, it is at this point that they are able to test and approve the will of God.

-The Word of God is alive! It’s active and sharper than a two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of spirit and soul, to both joint and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intent of the heart (Heb. 4:12). God’s Word has the power to change us!

I stumbled on a comforting commentary and verse in Acts 16:6–7, that God allows us make to choices, and when we are yielded to Him, He has ways of preventing us from making the wrong choice. Isn’t that a wonderful, freeing realization to consider today?

Have you ever experienced a renewing of the mind through Scripture? Prayer is also powerful and can shift our perspectives. What do you think?
