Is God in the Small Things?

Happy Friday!

We’re wrapping up this series by looking at another account with Jeremiah, along with a miracle performed by Jesus in the New Testament.

1. Pottery

In Jeremiah 19:1-13, God commands Jeremiah to buy a clay jar from the potter, then instructs Jeremiah on what to say to the elders and priests. After speaking, Jeremiah smashed the clay jar. Just as the jar was ruined, so God would bring destruction upon Israel. This is another object lesson of God’s wrath.

2. Iron pan, water, and food

In Ezekial 4:1-17, Ezekial performed quite the odd demonstration of Israel’s sin and the symbolical portrayal of the fate of Jerusalem. This was an object lesson of God’s judgement.

3. 5 loaves and 2 fish

In Mark 6:30-44, Jesus uses the lunch of a small boy to feed a crowd of over 5,000 people. Amazing!

What is our takeaway from these 12 accounts? Our God is mighty and able to use whomever He wills and whatever He sees fit. I think of the verse in 1 Corinthians 1:27-29, “But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the word to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify things that are, so that no one may boast before him.”

May we always be humble, a ready, useable vessel before Him because He can use us and another simple object around us.
