Happy Friday and welcome back!
We’re continuing our July series by studying the beautiful prayers in 1 and 2 Thessalonians.
Let’s start with the verses in 1 Thessalonians.
1. Ask God that they may increase and abound in love for one another and for all. (I Thess. 3:11-12)
Why should we pray this for our friends? Verse 13 states, “…so that he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.”
2. Pray God will sanctify them completely and that their whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless. (1 Thess. 3:17)
What a powerful prayer! I love the whole verses here: “Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit, and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.”
What assurance we have!
Let’s move into 2 Thessalonians.
3. Ask God to make them worthy of His calling and that by His power, fulfill every good purpose of theirs and every act promoted by their faith. (2 Thess. 1:11)
4. Pray that Jesus Himself and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, would comfort them and establish them in every good work and word. (2 Thess. 2:16)
5. Ask God to direct their hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ. (2 Thess. 3:5)
6. Ask the Lord of peace Himself to give them peace at all times in every way. (2 Thess. 3:16)
If you have a chance to read these verses, it’s worth your time. They are beautiful and powerful!
