In Love, He Claims All

"For it is not so much of our time and so much of our attention that God demands; it is not even all our time and all our attention; it is ourselves. … Therefore, in love, He claims all. There's no bargaining with Him.” C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
Another idea from C.S Lewis is the idea that oftentimes, we are actually desiring less love from God and not more. Our view of success and happiness is often captured through the lens of this world and not a heavenly, eternal lens. What God values and what the world values are often starkly at odds. Taking this into consideration, we can mistake hardship, trials, struggling, and suffering as God’s punishment, when in fact, these are the tools He often uses to shape us into the image of Jesus and draw us into a closer relationship with Him. Lewis also said in, God in the Dock, “I didn’t go to religion to make me happy. I always knew a bottle of port would do that. If you want a religion to make you feel really comfortable, I certainly don’t recommend Christianity.”
What is your interpretation of this quote? What does it say to you?
