Happy Friday!
Let’s jump into a few more storylines from the past and see who they are, what titles they were given based on their choices or occupation, and how God chose to carry out His will.

This is a very small snapshot of these Old Testament greats. Many pages are devoted to giving small details and quotes from their journey. So, if you’re interested in reading more, I’ve included the Scripture reference for you.
See last Friday’s post for the first 5 on the list.
1. Hannah—homemaker. Hannah’s story can be found in 1 Samuel 1. God chose Hannah, a woman desperate for a baby, to be the mother of Samuel. What a blessing!
2. David—a shepherd boy and the last-born of his family. David’s story begins in 1 Samuel 16. God chose David to be Israel’s greatest king and David is often known as, “The man after God’s own heart.”
3. Ezra—a scribe. Ezra’s story is penned by his own hand in the book of Ezra and also likely the editor of the book of Nehemiah. God chose Ezra to lead the return of Judah and to write some of the Bible.
4. Esther—a slave girl. Esther has her own book, likely written by her uncle Mordecai. God chose Esther, “for such a time as this” to save her people from massacre. Such a compelling account!
5. Rahab—a Canaanite prostitute. Rahab’s story is found in Joshua 2. God used Rahab to hide two Israelite spies sent by Joshua to scout Jericho.
Can you think of another unlikely hero God used in the Old Testament? Perhaps Daniel? Jeremiah? So many great accounts of the past to encourage us in our faith walk today.
Join me next Friday for the final post of the series where we’ll head over to the New Testament.
