Happy Friday!
Christmas is a season characterized by hope, joy, and peace. Though for some of us, Christmas can be a very hectic time, especially for busy families or those who have jobs that require even more work at the end of the year. It can also be a painful reminder as a chair stands empty at the table where a loved one recently sat, now no longer with us.
But we can take heart. Jesus has overcome the world. He defeated death and the grave, and it all started when He chose to be obedient, to take on human flesh, and to become a servant.
In this series, we’re looking at all the things Jesus came to do, and why Emmanual would give up His throne to forever dwell among us. Here is this week’s list.
Christ came to…
1. Give eternal life. (John 6:51)
2. Receive worship. (Matthew 2:1-2,11)
3. Bring great joy. (Luke 2:10)
4. Demonstrate true humility. (Philippians 2:5-8)
5. Preach the gospel. (Luke 4:18-19, 42; Isaiah 61:1-2)
6. Bring judgement. (John 9:39-41)
7. Give His life as a ransom for many. (Mark 10:45; Titus 2:13-14)
Which stands out to you more than the others? What does Emmanual mean to you? What type of Christmas season are you experiencing this year?
