Christ at Christmas

As I was considering Christ at Christmas, I wanted to discover all the things Jesus came to do when He put on human flesh and left His throne in heaven. I came across a wonderful book, Why Christ Came: 31 Meditations on the Incarnation by authors Joel Beeke and William Boekestein. This book is what I’m using for my personal advent time throughout this year’s season.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing the 31 examples from Scripture along with Scripture references. This week, we’ll look at the first six things Jesus came to do.

Christ came to…

1.     Do the will of the Father. (John 6:8; Hebrews 10:7)

2.     Save sinners. (1 Timothy 1:15; Hebrews 9:26)

3.     Bring light to a dark world. (John 12:46; John 15:22)

4.     Be made like His people. (Hebrews 2:14-17)

5.     Bear witness to the truth. (John 18:37)

6.     Destroy the devil and his works. (Hebrews 2:14; 1 John 3:8)

Which one speaks the most of you?

How are you managing the stress and busyness of the season? Do you have an empty chair around the table in your home this year? I do. How can I be praying for you?
