Happy Friday!
In this series, we are taking a deep dive into Philippians 4:8, and this week we are focusing on the words lovely and commendable from Paul’s list.
Let’s consider what is lovely:
-not beautiful, but pleasing and loveable
-a rare word for the NT
-refers to things that attract, please, and win others admiration and affection
Lovely thoughts bring people together in peace rather than separating them in fighting and feuding.
Let’s consider what is commendable, of good report or also translated admirable:
- well-speaking
-gracious
-auspicious
-attractive
-of good omen (Greek)
-worthy of praise or approval
-deserving of a good reputation
What are some examples of things that are lovely or admirable? How do you take your thoughts captive to obedience in Christ in your daily life? I’d love to see what works for you! How do you shift from negative thoughts, worries, or fears to peace and trust in Jesus? Please comment below!
