What is love?

I John 4:7

What is love? Baby don’t hurt me. Ha! Just kidding.

Our world has many things to say about what love is.  We love everything! We love pizza and movies… tacos, bacon (can you tell I’m hungry?), that new TV series we’re obsessed with. And, of course, the obvious things like family.

But what does Scripture teach us love is? It tells us that GOD is love. That the only reason we love at all is because He first loved us.

Our understanding of love should come from Who our God is, not from our feelings or our circumstances. I need constant reminder of this truth. The world and all of its voices are screaming different things at us about love. Like, if you aren’t _____ (fill in the blank) then you aren’t loveable.

What lies has the enemy been speaking to you about love? I pray the Gospel will penetrate your hearts today as we breath in the truth that God is love. It was His love for us that sent Jesus to die in our place. If you don’t know anything else today, know that you are loved by God. And He’s a good Dad Who always keeps His promises.
