Happy Friday!

I’m so excited to read through 1 John with you this month! Each Friday I will highlight and discuss a few verses that stood out to me.

Today, we’re starting with chapter one and reading through chapter two. These chapters are packed with wonderful verses that we could chew on for a while, but time and space just doesn’t allow for that. But the comments provide some space, so please share the verses that spoke to you below so we can chat together!

1 John chapter 1 verse:

1-3—These verses are all about Jesus. John was an eyewitness. He saw and touched Jesus. He is giving us a first-hand account.

4—Why did John write the letters? So that our joy may be complete.

5—What message is John proclaiming to us? That God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.

7-10—These are declarations of truth that John learned while he walked with Jesus.

9—A wonderful promise. When we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us!

1 John chapter 2 verse:

1—Little children—a term of endearment. John is writing so we will stay away from sin.

1-2—Wow! Jesus is our propitiation (payment that satisfies) and not just for our sins, but for the sins of the whole world!

3—Jesus said that if we love Him, we will love to keep His commandments.

4-6—How do we differentiate believers from non-believers? By their walk. The life of a believer mirrors Jesus.

10— “Abides” say, remain. Abide is repeated 10 times in chapter two. When we love our brother, we stay in the light and there is “no cause for stumbling.” Powerful!

11—Hatred blinds and those who hate walk in darkness and “does not know where he is going.”

15—It’s a command! Do not love the world or the things of the world.

17—We abide forever, those who do the will of God.
