Obstacles

Have you ever thought about the fact that God could work and accomplish whatever He wants without our help? He doesn’t need us. He chooses to use us. He chooses to include us in His plans. We get to share in the blessings with our Father. Just as we want our children to be with us and help us (whether or not it’s much help!), God wants us to share in His plan too.

Have you been praying about “the next thing” God is calling you to? If you have or if you’ve discovered what the next thing might be, you’ve likely also been plagued with doubts, fears, and questions. If so, you’re not alone. When God visited Moses, he had a whole list of reasons why he shouldn’t and couldn’t answer God’s call. The account in Scripture is found in Exodus 3-4.

1. Moses: Who am I? (3:11) In other words, I’m not fit for this job. I’m inadequate.

God: I will be with you. (3:12) The deliverance didn’t depend on Moses’ ability.

2. Moses: I don’t know enough. (3:13)

God: God gives Moses a powerful statement to tell the leaders of Israel while also laying out the entire plan. (3:14-22)

3. Moses: They won’t believe me. (4:1)

God: He gave Moses signs and wonders to show them, and He had already promised that they would believe Moses. (3:18)

4. Moses: I don’t speak well. (4:10)

God: I created your mouth and I will teach you and speak for you. (4:11-12)

5. Moses: Choose someone else. (4:13) Moses reveals the heart of the issue. He didn’t want to do it!

God provided everything Moses needed. We know that Moses does follow God’s call and is obedient. God does use Moses to deliver His people and accomplish the exact plan He laid out from the start.

Mary’s heart and her immediate yes to God’s call in her life are so inspiring. She asks one very practical question in Luke 1:34, and then declares in verse 38, “I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.”

I pray this will be our answer as well. Let it be according to Your word, Lord! I hope this series has ministered to you and blessed you. If it has, drop me a heart in the comments. Thanks for being here!
