Nevertheless, part 2

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26

The older I get, the clearer this truth becomes. My own strength isn’t enough to weather the storms of life. Yes, the Lord sends friends and family to provide encouragement and uplift me during trials and suffering, but in the quiet moments, He alone remains.

Our heart and flesh may fail… but God… He remains. He remains not only present, but as our strength. He provides all we need to endure whatever comes our way here and through eternity. And He is our portion. Portion suggests “inheritance” or a share of something valuable. The psalmist is saying God is his ultimate source of satisfaction, more valuable than every earthly possession. With God as our inheritance, He stands as our comfort and security now and forever.

What is your takeaway from this “but God” verse?
