Fear paralyzes but the Bible meets us 366 times

Fear. What comes to mind when you think of the word? We all fear many things and fear paralyzes us. It roots us in the spot and we neither move forward nor look back. Fear, not doubt, is the opposite of faith. How? Because doubts propel us to answers. The disciples were a group of doubters with many questions. Jesus welcomed those. But fear? Fear strikes us cold.

The Bible gives a command similar to “do not fear” 366 times! Even on a leap year, we’re covered. Can I get an amen? Think about that for a moment. Do you think God knew we would struggle with fear? Of course He did. And He made sure we knew His thoughts—Do not fear. Why does He command us not to fear? Because He’s in control—always, and as Romans 8:28 says, “He works all things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purposes.” He doesn’t waste our fears or our suffering. He knows we are prone to fear and He tells us, don’t…You can trust me. Do you trust Him with your fears? Have you surrendered those to Him?

More to come next week on how to overcome fear.
