2 Corinthians 10:5

I love the imagery here, taking every thought captive, and not letting the thought take us captive.

We not only capture it, but we make it obedient to Christ. Both parts are quite difficult, but thankfully we don't have to do this in our own strength.

The Holy Spirit is there to give us what we need.

When Jesus was tempted in the desert by the devil, he spoke a Scripture verse to combat each of the devil's temptations. I think we can apply this same idea and use Scripture to fight away negative thoughts.

I've found it helpful in my own life, when worrisome, fearful thoughts or other troublesome thoughts start talking in my head, to say this verse over those words in my head or even aloud. Or Jesus' own words in John 16:33, "I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart, I have overcome the world."

There are other great verses from Scripture that would be great to memorize and repeat. Do you have any that you keep at the forefront of your mind to help you throughout the day?

In what way have you been able to take thoughts captive to obedience in Christ in your life? ❤
